I have found the best thing since sliced bread lol! I had an issue with one of my pillars beginning to peel and I have seen several others with this issue on this site. I have seen where some people were quoted over 200.00 to replace the part. There is a seller on EBAY with a store called Pillar Covers. The installation was fast and easy and you dont notice anything different. Besides the fact that I put mine on a little uneven. The kit came with 6 pieces for my car. Every car has different fitments and different number of pieces required. I only used one of the pieces and saved the others for later in case of any future damage. The one pice I used matched perfectly side by side with my original undamaged pillar. I meant to take a picture of the peeling/damage before replacing but just forgot because I was so excited about covering it up. The price was under $50.00 and they even periodically run sales. Even if nothing is wrong with your car, they also sell chrome and carbon fiber pillar covers to add a little design to your ride. Here are some of the features listed below

Made out of a high gloss piano BLACK polycarbonate!
- Reflection quality as good as a glass mirror!
- 30x stronger then the competitor's "plastic covers".
- 2x thinner then any other competitor's covers. Looks like an OEM part without sticking out.
- 5 minute installation. Just peel the backing off and apply to your car. No tools necessary.
- All of our parts are cut by computer so a perfect fitment is GUARANTEED each time.
- Material has built-in UV protection and is guaranteed for 10+ years outdoors.
- Easily cleanable with soap and water. Carwash safe and guaranteed not to come off.
- All parts are IN STOCK and will be shipped within 24hours.
- 30 day MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. If you're not totally satisfied for any reason, just return it for a full refund!
- Part quality is guaranteed with a 3 YEAR WARRANTY. No other company on ebay guarantees their work like us.

Here is a link to their EBAY Store http://stores.ebay.c...sid=p4340.l2563

Automotive News reports Lexus may use the company's new GS to put some distance between itself and parent company Toyota. Buyers have snapped up a total of 4,900 GS models in just two months, breezing by year-long sales estimates in the process. The company attributes much of that success to non-traditional advertising efforts, including the Tori 500 iPhone and iPad app, and says that it could use similar tactics in the future to lure buyers in based on traits like "character and handling." Traditionally, consumers have turned toward Lexus because of Toyota's reputation for efficient and reliable machinery.

The GS, with its hour-glass grille and aggressive front fascia, is a first-step in giving the luxury automaker a more distinct brand image. In the past, Lexus has had trouble keeping buyers coming back, and the company believes that's partly due to the fact that luxury consumers are more interested in owning a brand than a particular vehicle. As such, we can expect to see more corporate design cues across the company's portfolio in the near future. The move may help set Lexus apart as something other than a slightly nicer Toyota in consumers eyes.Lexus looking to distance itself from Toyota, move more upscale originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 08 May 2012 10:01:00 EST.
Oil Change/Fluid change Question

Hi Everyone. New to the forum here, but please don't get mad when I say I don't drive a Lexus. My mother drives an 08 RX350 and she has the "bad" habit of going to the dealership for everything (including getting charged over a grand for a new water pump) including oil changes. I keep telling her that she is wasting money and that she should go to an independent mechanic (NOT EXPRESS OIL CHANGE PLACES. I have had bad experiences with them.). She has even asked me on several occasions if I could do the oil change on her car when I am home from college doing any work on my truck (I don't do much on mine. Just basic basic stuff like oil and other fluid changes since I don't like paying mechanics for stuff I can do myself. I won't touch critical parts like the front end or brakes, but I do other minor repairs myself.), but I was afraid to touch it, especially since I have never done any type of work on it before.

Now I drive a 1998 GMC Jimmy 4x4 and until 2.5 years ago I had the oil changes done by someone else, until I had too many bad experiences with them either forgetting to lube the front end, putting cheap oil and filters in, leaving grease and dirt in the truck (which I keep clean because I have allergies) for me to clean up and trying to sell me stuff I knew was not needed or required or could damage the truck (and they get mad when I am the only customer with the word "NO" in my vocabulary). When I moved into an apartment for college I decided to see if I could do it myself and I found it was easy on this car. The oil pan is right in the middle and the oil filter is behind the bumper (spin-on can style). In fact, I just did it yesterday and the hardest part was lubricating the front end (mandatory on this truck. It eats front end parts as is) but the oil change was easy. I use Mobil1 High Mileage 5W-30 with a Napa Gold Filter every 2500-3000 miles and it runs nice.

Now I realize that the Lexus 3.5L AWD configuration is totally different from a GM 4.3L with 4x4, but how hard is it to do an oil change on the RX350? Are there alot of parts that are easily breakable that have to be touched to do it? I am gentle with my truck, especially when I tighten the drain plug (I put my hand near the socket and use only as much force as needed to seal it. Never stripped it nor has it come out.), but does the RX350 have alot of aluminum/plastic parts that can break very easily? I don't want to make a mistake and damage this thing if I ever find myself in the position where I am doing her oil changes.

Also what are the intervals for the oil (5000???), tranny fluid, differential fluids, transfer case fluid and coolant? Dealers keep giving her different numbers and trying to sell it to her when she just had it done. I can't advise her since on my truck all the fluids (except oil) get changed every year or two depending on what it is (I do or have the fluids changed often since this truck falls under severe service categories and I want it to last.). Also does replacing the water pump on this car require the coolant to be drained (The dealer tried to sell her another coolant change)? Do the front end parts have grease fittings? Also, what mileage does she need a tune up (spark plugs, etc)? She keeps getting quotes from $300-1000.

Also, I couldn't help but notice that even though my mom's car has about the same amount of miles on it (110k compared to my 118k), it seems to take longer to start and it makes alot of noise after startup. In fact, it has always seemed to make a knock sound when you give it a cold start even when it was new. No warning lights or anything like that. I wouldn't drive that thing anymore (I lost trust in imports after the recalls.) unless I really had to, but I used to drive it when my truck was in the shop for the day or I needed to use it to get a part.

Thanks for any advice.

I have a problem I put my 95 sc 300 in the shop yesterday to have intake gasket replaced and fuel injection cleaned
when i picked my car up today the cover over the intake/fuel injections that says LEXUS on it is missing
I am female- but not crazy as the owner of the shop called me
i have been on line for 4 hours trying to find a picture of one not sure on what it is called either
but i know it covered the top part of my engine and it said LEXUS across it
anyoune have a picture of one or can tell me where to look
this car is my baby i have been bringing it back to life for 2 yrs
i am heart broken that an major shop would do this
the owner said it was not on it when i brought the car in
and he also mentioned he had to fix another one like mine first
i can t believe someone would steal a part at a shop from me
i gave him 24 hours to produce it i will file a police report
makes me wonder what else they took or replace
guess everyone needs to take a picture of their cars engine before taking it to a shop
