No matter what I do I can't seem to get a good read on where the fluid level is for my 1990 LS400 transmission. I drained the thing, and began filling it back up, checking it after every 1/2 quart. The dipstick is so hard to read I could never tell where the fluid level was. Finally I got to the point where I had put in more than I had taken out and stopped. I checked it again the next day thinking that everything should have settled by then, but I still can't get an accurate reading. There's just fluid everywhere. It was like this the entire time I was filling it up, just no way to see exactly where the line was. Anyone have any tricks or anything they've used in order to get a clear cut line where the fluid is? I am putting the car in R D 2 and 1 before checking with the engine running and fluid warm (tried it cold too and still couldn't tell where the fluid stopped).
