...Chevy Caliver. Both worth $6,000? The thing is the 1993-1994 Lexus LS400 was one of the most reliable bult cars. and the chevy is not. But the chevy is way newer. Also keep in mind the Lexus was worth $50,000 new. And the Chevy was worth $16,000 new! Thanks for all the answers. Please also explain your answer if you have time,,,thanks (PS. I LIVE IN AMERICA)

The Cavalier sounds like a better deal, but if you're gonna keep it a long time, the Lexus might prove to have more longevity.

Go with the Cavalier . While the Lexus was a top of the line car that was way back in 1993 ! It's now a 14 year old car ... To old! It's at the age when some very expensive repairs might be needed soon. IE: Transmission/ engine work. I would also venture to say it' probably showing it's age too.
The Cavalier is only 4 years old ... That's pretty new. I have a 1995 Cavalier. I have owned it for 10 years. It has NEVER failed to start. I have almost 200,000 miles on it. The only major part to go was a throw out bearing ( something to do with clutch at 180,000 miles) My car has achieved this mileage with just basic good care... Regular oil changes and tune ups.My brother is a mechanic and he says it's a great car cause it's simple to work on and parts are cheap and available everywhere!

The `93` Lexus will cost you more to replace worn out parts. check the mileage .highway miles are easier on the engine in the long run. The `cavalier` on the other hand is more durable if you plan on keeping th vehicle over a long term. The lexus has a " softer cam " wich means you will lose more engine power and performance with more miles on the vehicle due to lobe wear.In my opinion the best economical decision is the `cavalier`. The Lexus does drive and handle better but the parts wear out quicker. I hope this helped you.
Mileage will matter but in general - the Lexus. it also depends on the prior owners. if buying from the original owner definately the Lexus - someone who pays that much is going to care for it.
Who are you transporting in the car? Does it have airbags (some 93s will not - Lexus probably will.)
Also chec maintenance records.
