Other make/models considered, but reliability is my biggest priority.

the Lexus is a lot better,i have drove and worked on both types of vehicles and i would prefer a Lexus any day the ride a lot better and perform really good also.the infinity is a fine vehicle but way over priced, and not any better than a Lexus is,good luck hope this helps.

I'd go with the Lexus because they have a better rep than the Infiniti, also the Acura TL is another one to consider

Bartholemujohnson, “better,” what is your criterion? The ES350 and M35 are entirely different automobiles and are not comparable except that they are both six-cylinder vehicles that are produced in Japan.

The M35 is a sporty high performer with an excellent mated engine and transmission. It is enhanced by hi-tech features and handles curves at high speeds with sure control. The fit and finish of the M35 are excellent.

The ES350 is not sporty. Rather, it is a stylish, graceful and sedate automobile comfortable, quiet, smooth and richly appointed with quality materials and baffling. Its engine and transmission produce good acceleration and swift cruising speeds without stuttering or jarring. It has driver assist features that make distance driving safe and effortless.

If you want visceral sensations, opt for the M35. However, if you want to be enveloped by luxury and pure driving comfort, opt for the ES350.

I have found both to be extremely reliable and enjoyable to own.

Good luck with your choice.

I wouldn't be so sure. Based on my surveys at TrueDelta.com (http://www.truedelta.com/reliability.php), the repair rate of the ES 350 is low. But the transmission is the same one that has been very troublesome in the Camry V6. And one panel member did have an ES 350 lemon lawed after two transmission failures, two nav system failures, and a leaking strut.

But, as carbuff points out, the real issue is that theses are different cars. The Lexus GS is much more comparable.
