Has anyone had any chance to experiment with it? I just got my new PC a few days ago and love it! So many more features and it is very user friendly dispite what a few others say on the internet. All of my programs so far has worked with it.

PC Specs:
2.4 Ghz Quad Core
2 Gigs of ram @ 667 Mhz
128 MB G-Force Graphics card
320 GB HD

I haven't upgraded myself. I'm still using Windows XP Professional. However, I think my next computer will be a Macintosh.. I do a lot of work on my computer and I need something that doesn't need 5 different security programs running (hogging memory) simultaneously! Since most people use Windows, that's what most people program viruses for...

I love it, but wouldn't recommend purchasing this unless you are getting it free with a new pc. I don't think it's worth the extra 200 bucks.

I don't really like it as I couldn't get my printer or my scanner to work with it. Maybe after the first couple releases it'll work the bugs out.

I'm with you on that note, to may viruses go along with windows and my PC just can't handle all of the extra programs you have to run to keep the viruses out.

It's a pretty nice program, much better than windows XP in my opinion. This is coming from a guy who swore up and down that I wouldn't like vista lol.

That's some very nice PC specs, no wonder vista runs so smooth! Hopefully I'll get one as fast some day.

XP < Vista | The choice is clear. If you have a pc that can handle vista, get vista. If you pc is a little slower XP should be just right for you.

It's great if your PC can handle it, but if not you are going to run in a lot of trouble with your older software, etc.

Can't stand it and won't be upgrading anytime soon if I can at all avoid it. After using extensively on a friend's brand new Compaq laptop, both I and he desperately wanted to convert the laptop back to XP. Unfortunately the video driver is not compatible with XP, and thus it's a no go.

Like any Microsoft product, it's usually a good idea to wait for SP1 or even SP2 to come along before taking the leap. XP *just* now became SOMEWHAT stable and reliable, Ill be sticking with it as long as I can.

What are the specs in the compaq? A lot of people just buy a 400-500 PC and expect vista to run flawlessly. Don't get me wrong, it will run, but it will run better on a machine that has more ram and performance.

I've had a few problems such as I couldn't get my control panel to stay open, but I read up on it and got that fixed. I'm only on my first week though with vista, so I could run into problems down the road.

I have 2 gigs of ram in my PC and right now I'm operating at 44%. I have a quad core processor and each core operates at 2.4Ghz. Right now as I am typing this message each core is at .01-.04%

Another note, the thing I love best about it is the side bar, I'm neatural about everything else.

Some people hate it, some love it. I think it's just a matter of personal prefference. Windows XP had a lot of problems when it first came out, then it became stable. I think vista will become the same way.

It's worth it only if you buy a new pc with it in the pc, not worth it if you buy it off the shelve.

It's a brand new laptop that came PRE-loaded with Vista, not on old machine that was upgraded.

Yeah I know what you mean, but they are also still making PC's with only 512MB's of ram and a 1.8Ghz processor. That kind of power a lone isn't enough to handle vista.

My brother has 1 gig of ram in his PC and a windows vista disk, I told him that I wouldn't recommend him upgrading because I have 2 gigs and I'm operating rifght now at 58% used. :(

I see your point, however at the same time I can run XP comfortably and with no problems on a 2.4GHz machine with 512mb of RAM. If Microsoft publishes a minimum system requirement, that minimum requirement should be sufficient to maintain a stable machine running at a decent rate of speed with at least a few non-intensive apps running on it.

On my friend's laptop, he TWICE tried to open something as simple as a PHOTO with nothing more complicated than plain old Internet Explorer which the first time caused the machine to crash to a blue screen, and on a different image, caused it to freeze completely the second time. That's unacceptable, even at minimum required system configurations. For the record, I believe that machine does have 1gb of RAM.

I completely agree... if Microsof says that the minimum requirements are 512, the machine should run smoothly with 512 Mb's of ram. They should have set the minium requirements higher I think. Vista consumes a lot of resources.

It has its ups and downs for sure. One minute it works perfect, the next your having to restart. Give it a little time guys and it'll work good :)
