Now I'm hoping for an answer that includes taxes and everything else in between. My dad has excellent credit and he makes about 40,000 a year, and I have little credit and I make about 40,000 a year also. I'm also just talking about the cars with the base models with the least options. Oh yea, I live in the central valley of california (dont know if that matters or not). thanks a lot!

if you only make 40,000 a year i wouldnt recommend buying a veh that is almost the cost of one years income. that isnt smart. your veh should cost no more than 1/8 of your pay.

to keep your veh at only 1/8 of ur pay your car payment sholuld be no more than 416, and i dont care how good your credit is, you cannot get one of those veh for only 416 a month unless you finance it for at least 6 years and have a FAT down payment. not trying to be rude , just realistic. lol

With all respect, really... "Your Dad" makes $40,000 a yr. You live in Cal. If you have to use your dad to get a 'WANT' and not a 'Need" as an adult, it does not matter how much you make. You should not be thinking about a Lexus. Without being harsh, I know it sounds harsh, but you need to get rid of that idea. You have no idea what you will be in for. Have you thought about insurance? The parts are more expensive, as is the labor. You are not ready for a Lexus if you can not afford to buy it for yourself. This is quite a selfish thing to ask from your dad. One thing you should always remember, if you have to ask how much, you can not afford it.
