if you had to choose, would you pick a 2004 lexus rx330 (3.3Liter), or a 2006 nissan maxima ( 3.5 liter) , both nice but as an overall car, which would you rather have? i like both, so its doesnt matter, which do you think would better and appealing to you?

My friend, you are in what I'd call an automotive dillema. I had to face a choice somewhat like that while I was buying my car. I was stuck between a sport sedan and an suv; ironically, the suv was the rx..

I ended up getting the sport sedan over the RX, just because I love to drive. Do I regret it, no, not at all, but I do wish I had something that wasnt always sporty to drive but relaxed at times too. My last car was a Lexus, so maybe its just me because I fell in love with it. I'm not even sure why, but it was very good to me.

That being said, I also drove around an 08 RX for about a week. I can't speak for the 04's, and they should be the same, but it was fantastic. Also, the resale value on Nissan cars drop like a penny off the top of the empire state building.

I would get the RX. I think things are a bit more thought out than the Nissan. I dont like the way you sit in the Maxima's now, but maybe that's just me. The Lexus will feel like it could last you an eternity, and to some degree, that will be true.

Maintenance will be more than the Maxima, but you are getting a higher quallity car.

Maybe do this. Ask both dealers if you could take the car home for a day. They should let you as long as they know you're serious about the car. Get to know them a bit better after that day, and pick the one you think will meet your needs and expectations better.

Also don't be afriad to look at a G :)

Give me the 06 Maxima. I love the Lexus & it's look. It's reliable. But it's older, an SUV (worse gas mileage) and not as nimble as the sedan, The 3.6 Max has the bigger engine & will be more fun to drive. However, if reliability & ride quality are your major concern, go with the lexus.

I would go with the Maxima, Nissan is generally cheaper to repair that Lexus. Also, some engine parts interchange with the 350Z and the Infinity G35.
