I was driving a 2005 Lexus LS430 when a new (at the time) Lexus IS350 pulled out of the Lexus of Palm Beach parking lot. I wanted to see what this thing could do (I knew it was faster than the LS) and I could tell the driver wanted to see as well.. So, I put the car in first and when the light changed, I floored it.
I got to the end of first gear, expecting the transmission to shift into second at red line... Fuel shut off....... So that was the end of the race...
What's the deal? A Chrysler 300C automatically shifts at red line. So does the Volkswagen Passat. I'm sure many other makes and models do as well. Why would the Lexus cut the fuel? I'm pretty sure this is how all Lexus vehicles work. It's wrong. There's no reason to want to hold the shift when you reach red line. The only thing to do is shift up to the next gear.
Am I crazy?
