Is there a process to follow or do I need a special tool?

Turn the key to the on position without starting the car.

then go to the odometer/tripper. with the acual miles showing not the trip miles, push and hold the tripper reset button in for a few seconds until the odometer reads 000000then the light should go out. Hope you didn't get taken when or if you took it in.:D
