Everyone please maintain your vehicle. I am learning a costly lesson. My truck has/had been running fine, no noise no nothing! Yesterday while driving down a major highway in rush hour traffic the temp gauage went all the way up to hot and the engine locked (while I was on the freeway) smoke started coming from under the hood. I am lucky to be alive! (I was almost hit several times) car towed to garage. told me first water pump, some type of belt and would need a new radiator soon. Went to the garage and coolant was added etc. when the mechanic stated the truck I knew it wasn't "right" it was shaking (not hard) but it didn't sound right. It showed several misfires, then the mechanic said the head gasket was shot. The waterpump, 2 belts cost me $600. He said the gasket will be $2300. I cried right in the garage. I'm a single working mom...I know if I had done proper maintence this might not have happened. Is this price right? The truck is paid for... should I sell it?
