Mercedes GL and Land Rover Range Rover The pricing for the 2008 Lexus LX570 is not out yet, but even the Toyota Land Cruiser starts at $63,885 (that's about $7,000 more than the Mercedes GL!). Even though those are steep prices, the LX570 and Land Cruiser does however have enormous amounts of luxury features and new technologies like crawl control and blindspot cameras and an enormous 5.7 V8 with 380 horsepower while still retaining the Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle II rating, oh, and ten airbags, power third and second row seats... How will you think it will compare with the Mercedes GL/G, Land Rover Range Rover, or any other large luxury SUV's.

Note: the Crawl control is like auto-pilot for off roading, scaling mountains, boulders, etc...
mbar3 is wrong.

Every source (Consumer Reports...) I have seen has said that Lexus and Toyota has a better build quality than any Mercedes. Mercedes is the one that uses fake leather and plastic trims on their vehicles, even though they have outrageous prices. For the Land cruiser, at least you get crawl control. The Lexus also uses wood that is fabricated by yamaha, babiga wood?, anyways its the same wood used in private jets and yahts. Toyota and Lexus quality is unsurpassed. According to Consumer Reports, Toyota and Lexus build quality and reliability is excellent. Mercedes reliability is horrible, even hyundais have better reliability ratings. Fact: A 1998 Lexus LS400 has fewer problems and glitches than a brand new 2006 Mercedes ML500. Toyota and especially Lexus cars are usually 100% japanese or American. Most Mercedes, including the S and CL classes are only 81% German, the other 19% comes from somewhere else.

I prefer the Land Cruiser. Normally, Lexus' are my favorite, but there's something about Land Cruisers that make me like them better. They're definitely better than the GL and G. Toyota or Lexus is your best bet. They hold their value well and last forever.

The Mercedes and land rover have a better build quality with higher end materials and more luxurious feeling interior that last longer. The Lexus and Toyota use allot of cheep plastics inside but as far as gadgets go they are probably on par (the range will be better off road). so if you want gadgets and leather the Lexus and cruiser will be goods but if you want great build quality and true luxury i would look at Audi Q7, range rover, X5 or the GL.

The Lincoln Navigator beats all of them and then some! Way nicer in every aspect and all that for under 60K!
