If these two were the same price, I'd obviously would go with the Lexus GX470 (just my opinion)...but I have 2 great deals on the table from a dealer:
new 2007 Lexus GX470 for 47,000
new 2006 Lincoln Navigator (Ultimate) for 35,000

I prefer the Lexus, but the Navigator is at such a great price (on a side note, why do these Navi's depreciate so much, so fast in just one year?? 06 Lexus is still in the mid-40,000)

Which one should I get?
And which one would age better as I am looking to keep this for the next 8-9 years at least....

this is a big coincidence. my dad has an 03 navigator that i absolutley great, and my mom has a gx470 that is also great. i really can't choose because we have loved these 2 suv's and they both have lots of power, reliable, and gadgets. i would have to say, though, the navigator has a worse gas mileage, but it's because it's a large suv.

Lexus will depreciate slower, last longer, look newer longer, and still be running as if she only had 30k miles on her in 8 yrs. Lexus is known to run into the 300,000 mile range and many are documented in that range.

Lincoln is a Ford, hence the depreciation. They also don't hold up, bells, whistles all break and give issues, computer programing over time will give issues, etc. Just look around at used ones and you will see the issues that I speak of.

But notice you won't find many used Lexus out there, as few give them up. And when they do, most give them up for another Lexus. As once you own a Lexus, its hard to go to anything else, as its a step down.

If you have to get a SUV, and these are the choices, its a no brainer, Lexus. And I am not saying that just cause I know them, I say that from first hand experience on car lots every day.

The Nav is a much larger vehicle, so if size matters the choice is obvious. The Nav has just been restyled, the GX has been the same since 2003, so if you want everyone to know you are driving the latest model, the choice is obvious. If you plan on keeping the vehicle for 10+ years then resale value should not really be a factor, yes the Nav depreciates like a brick, but you spend less to begin with. $12k is a nice chunk of change and you could have a lot of fun with that money, and it should cover the extra gas you will be buying to fuel your new Navigator.

You would have to be a completely insane to get the Lexus. It drives awful compared to the Lincoln, has no room on the 3rd row seat, has no power, and is 12K more! Not to mention the ridiculous design on the rear door, no leg room for your passengers. The Lincoln is so much better in every category, that this is a no brainer. Now if you really have the money burning a hole in your pocket, and feel that you have to pump up Japan's economy, that's something else.

It depends on opinion and choice. I would prefer costly Lexus due to its reliability , riding quality, fuel economy and comfort.
