Toyota Recalls 2007-2008 Lexus ES 350 with All-Weather Floor Mats

TORRANCE, Calif. — Toyota has launched a safety recall of 30,500 2007-'08 Lexus ES 350 models (and 24,500 2007-'08 Toyota Camry models) equipped with optional all-weather floor mats. The automaker said in a statement on Wednesday that if the optional mat is not "secured by the retaining hooks and the mat moves forward, it may interfere with the accelerator pedal returning to the idle position."

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting next week, telling them when replacement mats will be made available and the steps they can take until that time, the company said. The replacement mat will be exchanged at no charge to owners.

Just an FYI. This issue wasn't the fault of Lexus (and Toyota). Owners were putting the all-weather floor mats on TOP of the regular floor mats. Lexus/Toyota is just being nice with this recall, in my opinion...

More often it is assumed that high price vehicles like lexus es, lexus ls, lexus gs, lexus sc, lexus rx, lexus ls, lexus is, lexus is-f have some pre-loaded stuff. I even know many manufacturers who even don't include any simple mats in their vehicles. Although such stuff can be ignored but customers always feel more entertained.

Although It is not manufacturer's fault but it is good that they cautioned all their customers. There might be rare chances of accidents due to this but this can happen and we should take care of it. Proper installation of everything is necessary for safety purposes.

Proper installation of everything is necessary for safety purposes.I am not agreed with you sir,if it is not manufacturer's fault then why it happened. It looks like that their check and balance system is not proper.Any way now they are doing fine .
