Hi,
I'm trying to help a family member who's been in accident buy their new car.If you could choose to own one out of these cars, which would it be? The LS460 stickers at $69K (doesn't park itself) and the Range Rover HSE w/o Luxury Package, just basic, stickers at $78K, which one would you choose and why?

The Range is trash. It will break down in the first month and it is more expensive to fix.

Range Rover... There are too many lexuses.

Range Rover is an awesome car, if your family member can afford it, he should choose it over the Lexus.

I am not saying that the Lexus is bad, in fact, it's almost as good as range rover. range rovers are more unique.

And, also, if he is buying it brand new, he is almost guaranteed about 8 years of no problems for both of the cars.

There would be no question, the Lexus.

Lexus reliability and quality is legendary. Range Rover's reliability and qualify are consistently on the bottom of owner survery ratings. Lexus is consistently near the top. The difference is night and day.

If I lived in a area where I needed to have a 4x4 for winter weather..I would pick the Range...where I live..in the Southeast, the Lexus would be better...The Range is more of a status symbol but it's reputation is solid...The Lexus has been overshadowed by BMW and Mercedes Benz....the LS460 is comparable to a Benz CL500 or BMW 745i...for $20,000 less, you get world class luxury...I'm thinking about getting a Toyota Avalon...which is basically the same car...only more understated..in Japan and europe...highly coveted as a luxury sedan.
