Ï âëóñÿ À 01-24-2008, 02:58 PM Lexus RX330? Nice! I doubt that he'd complain that its too girly. I don't think it is anyway. The only thing that I'd recommend, is that you reconsider your decision, and try to aim for a GS 300. That was my first car, and I LOVED it. And I doubt you'll find a RX for that money. A GS on the other hand will fit into that price. And I don't know if you see anything better in a RX than a GS, but I don't see anything that the RX doesn't have. Plus with an RX, there's no way he'll complain that its girly. spammer 01-24-2008, 03:00 PM Looking for cheap luxury? That is an Oxymoron... driftslave 01-24-2008, 03:00 PM You're buying your kid his first car? Isn't HE supposed to work part time and buy his own car? Seriously, kids don't treat cars very well, so it would be better to let him wreck something he bought himself. Maybe get him a nice car when he graduates college. ANY Lexus is definately not a starter car for a kid. Think more in the $500-$1000 range for a first car. Trust me you'll be glad you did....especially if he buys it himself. Gives you a sense of pride. I worked through 95-99 when I was in middle and high school so I could buy a car to fix up. If I could save $5500 working hard for only $5.75/hr back then, so can he....unless he's lazy. ;-P jballz33 01-24-2008, 03:00 PM Their nice cars but all the guys I know think the RX's are girly cars. lol also i dont know what dealership you are going to but yours not going to find a rx350 for lower 20's.lol My grandparents just bought themselves and my twin cousins that just turned 16 all new rx350s, and on a 3 car deal they could still only get the price down to $47 grand each. My first car was a new tahoe z71 and i loved it. I never got in a wreck, but its big enough that i felt safe in it if i did. You can find good acuras and audis around that price that are pretty new and a little bit older bmw's. You should judge it also on how skilled of a driver your son is now. I always loved cars and driving so i got my lisence and have been driving on my own since 2 months after my 15th birthday and have never had a wreck, but driving just came very naturally to me. No sports cars though. Iv been down that road and its just not a good call for at least his first few cars (depending on how long you plan on making him keep each one. Im 20 and iv had 5 different cars, the 2nd one being an 05 corvette. No wrecks but a couple MASSIVE tickets.lol) hiphop. anonymous 01-24-2008, 03:01 PM I think it's absurd that you're even considering buying your kid a Lexus. Your son is going to use that car to brag to all his friends, and to use it as a chick magnet. He should earn his first car. If you pay for his car and (likely) pay for his insurance, he won't learn and appreciate the value of it. Irresponsible parenting if you get him a Lexus. msg219 02-07-2008, 10:33 AM Teenagers place importance on style, appearance, performance, size (not too large but enough room for friends), and accessories. An automobile is a projection of a teen's personality, sense of freedom, and desire for peer approval as well as possibly serving a practical need for getting back and forth to school and job. In my opinion Scion xA/xB/tC, Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer, Ford Focus, Mazda3 if cost is big factor otherwise BMW 3-Series , Mercedes C-Class, Acura TL, Audi A4 , Lexus IS are the best cars for teens. Good Luck! |
