Yesterday while i was driving the car started smelling like like gas, the tempature Gage was over the half and climbing, by the time I pulled over the needle was on Hot, it started smoking when I turned it off, and I let it cool off for about 5 min, then it wouldn't start, there is plenty of of antifreeze in it, our mechanic said there is no compression and he is drying out the spark plugs and added oil to the engine, he wants to wait of the weekend to see what it could be, he is hoping it will start by Monday.
He says it may be a water pump, head gasket or the engine is bad.
Can anyone please offer advise?

How much, much more than 2 quarts and your engine is TOAST..!!
