The reverse has gone out in my Lexus and I was told I would need a new transmission. I'm going to stat getting quotes today, but if anyone has some experience in this...

Is it ok for me to drive it a while longer (without reverse) as long as the other gears are fine?

How soon will I need to replace my transmission, if so?

I read in another question here that it's possible I won't need to replace my entire transmission- is this true?

And what costs am I looking at for parts and labor? A general idea would be very helpful.
