There is a problem when the car engine is cold. Car starts fine but engine shuts off immediately with suden drop of rpm. After push of gas for may be about 20 seconds rpm picks up again and engine does not shut off.

i have not taken the car to mechanic yet but wanted to know the problem before taking the car. The car has 90,000 miles and i belive tuen up is due pretty soon. may be fuel injection or fuel pump is clogged??

Please help me out here.

has it been tuned up? at 90K u need plugs wires.....

you might check the throttle positioning sensor.
