View Full Version : Will Lexus come out with a suv smaller than the Lexus RX? booger man 08-26-2009, 11:57 PM Will someone give me a picture. wwest 11-15-2009, 01:02 PM I would JUMP at the chance to buy an RX225 F/awd or even an RX250h AWD. Same body RX350 style (well, maybe lowered an inch or so) but with higher FE using the new Venza I4 but updated with DFI. RX250h using a lower displacement I4 w/DFI, e/VVT-i, and SuperCharged. e/VVT-i (Extended VVT-i as used in the new Prius and RX450h). The new Toyota HSD design uses e/VVT-i to transition the engine from Otto mode, 13:1 compression ratio, for low engine loading, into Atkinson cycle mode, 10:1 effective compression ratio for high engine loads/loading. Standard Otto mode, 15:1 static/base compression ratio for low engine load/loading, Atkinson cycle mode, 12:1 "effective" compression ratio for moderate engine load/loading, Miller cycle mode, 8-10:1 compression ratio absent WOT SC boost. SuperCharged using a variable speed positive displacement SuperCharger. Combination drive to the SC via an e/CVT (PSD), engine and variable speed AC synchronous motor. No throttle plate as the SC provides FULL range intake airflow metering, idle all the way up to FULL BOOST. Wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if like the new RX350 and Venza the new RX250h also adopted the Ford/Mazda F/awd system. Even better, the F/R torque apportioning technique of the Acura SH-AWD system. Basically the Ford F/awd system but with a slight decrease in rear drive ratio allowing 30/70 F/R torque biasing. If you're going to inadvertently encounter wheelspin/slip on an adverse roadbed surface BEST it initially be the rear wheels. |
